Universal Pre-K4 in St. Charles Parish

Beginning Fall 2026, every 4-year-old in St. Charles Parish can attend Pre-K4 at their neighborhood public school.

Expanded Pre-K3 Options

Pre-K3 eligibility and placements are based on age, residential area, and income.

For the 2026-2027 school year, more Pre-K3 classes are coming to:

  • Carver Early Learning Center in Hahnville
  • East Bank Head Start Center in Destrehan

Apply for the 2026-2027 School Year

Applications for the 2026-2027 Prekindergarten Program open February 2, 2026.

Children must be 3 or 4 on or before September 30, 2026.

Application Requirements
To process your child's application, you'll need to provide the following documents. Incomplete applications cannot be processed.

Required Documents

  • Child's original birth certificate
  • Child's Medicaid/insurance card
  • Child's Social Security card
  • Child's immunization record with the state seal
  • Official ID
    The address on the enrolling parent's or legal guardian's official ID is required to match the physical address of their St. Charles Parish proof of residency address.

Additional Documents

If Applicable:
  • Custody arrangement signed by a judge
  • Verification of alimony or child support
  • Verification of Social Security benefits
  • Printed copy of family's SNAP benefits or TANF
  • Current status as receipt of public assistance
  • Copy of school transcript or verification of enrollment for parents in school

 

 

Proof of Residency - Acceptable Documentation

  • 2 different current utility bills in the parent or guardian's name
    *Acceptable utility bills are: gas, water, or electric.

OR

  • 1 utility bill and a lease with the parent or guardian's name and the child's name listed.
    *Disconnect notices will not be accepted.

NOTE:

If utility bills are not in your name or you reside with relatives or friends, you will be required to apply for Temporary Residency.

You must apply for Temporary Residency with the Student Services Department beginning in June.

Pending placements will be dropped if Temporary Residency documentation is not submitted.

Parent or Guardian Income Information - Acceptable Documentation

  • 3 printed recent check stubs before the month of the application for each parent in the home

OR

  • Employment verification letter stating employee's name, employment address, hours worked per week, hourly wage, and signed by the employer
