Early Childhood Community Network

The Louisiana Department of Education has engaged in a statewide effort to strengthen early learning services for “Kindergarten Readiness” in response to the Early Childhood Care and Education Act of 2012. The mission has been to unify publicly funded preschool, Head Start, and early child care programs into local Networks so that families have easy access to high-quality early learning options that put every child in need on track to enter school ready to learn.

The St. Charles Parish Public School District serves as the Lead Agency for the local Network of early learning provider partners in our community. This involves the coordination of essential activities such as curriculum, classroom observation, assessment, enrollment, and other resources. Preschool classes in six elementary schools, two Head Start Centers as well as the eight Type III community child care centers participate in the St. Charles local Network: Life Church, Children’s Book of Knowledge, Four Stars Childcare Facility, Full of Love Childcare, Kidz Academy, Kidz at Work of Destrehan, LLC., Mimi’s Lil Schoolhouse, and We’re All-En Learning Center.

The Network has one Unified Network Enrollment Application for all early childhood programs.  The application provides the opportunity for families to make a selection of first, second, and third choices on the application to programs within the Network.  Applications are available online and at all program sites.  In addition to the Network’s Unified Application, each program has its individually required qualifying documentation and registration information. We invite all families to be on the lookout for the Annual Early Childhood Enrollment Outreach to learn more about each site located in St. Charles Parish.
