Why 7 Mindsets?
7 Mindsets is a Tier 1 social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum that helps students develop essential life skills through interactive, age-appropriate lessons.
Beginning this school year, all SCPPS students in grades K–12 will participate in weekly 7 Mindsets lessons focused on self-awareness, healthy relationships, responsible decision-making, and personal growth. Students will have opportunities to share, reflect on their experiences, and connect what they are learning to their everyday lives.
So, why do mindsets matter? Our mindsets influence how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us. A mindset-based approach helps students recognize their potential, build resilience, navigate challenges, and remain open to growth. When students believe they can grow, they are more likely to embrace challenges, persevere through difficulties, and try new things.
The curriculum is organized around seven mindsets, with each one explored over the course of four weeks. Each mindset includes four lessons that build upon one another, giving students the space to learn, practice, and apply new skills in meaningful ways.
