How do Millages fund SCPPS?

Seventy percent of the funding St. Charles Parish Public Schools receives is generated locally through sales tax and ad valorem (property tax) revenues. The two millage renewals on the May 16th ballot represent 36% of the school system's total funding. Without millage funding, SCPPS would not be able to operate on the scale required for the number of students we serve.

There are four school system millages noted on your property tax bill. The Debt Service and Constitutional Millages are permanent. However, the Construction & Improvements and Operations & Maintenance Millages require a voter-approved renewal every 10 years. These are the two millage renewals which will appear on the May 16th ballot.
