Alumni Association Inaugural Officers Application

St. Charles Parish Public Schools (SCPPS) takes immense pride in its deep community roots, shared history, and local pride. With high schools that boast over a century of legacy within our parish, we are committed to strengthening the bond between our district and our accomplished alumni.

To facilitate this, SCPPS is launching a comprehensive, district-supported Alumni Engagement Initiative.

Governance and Structure

To honor the legacy of all SCPPS high schools, including Mary M. Bethune High and George W. Carver High, this initiative will establish two operating associations: the Destrehan High School Alumni Association, which will serve the alumni of both Destrehan and Bethune, and the Hahnville High School Alumni Association, which will serve the alumni of both Hahnville and Carver.

• District Oversight: A District Alumni Committee will provide essential governance support, strategic guidance, and ensure operational consistency across both associations.

• Chapter Autonomy: Each high school association will operate with a degree of independence over its specific activities, fundraising, and events, allowing it to serve its school's unique traditions and alumni base authentically.

Call for Inaugural Leadership: Apply by November 9

We are looking for enthusiastic, dedicated, and proud alumni from all four high schools to serve as the inaugural officers for the Destrehan High School and Hahnville High School Alumni Associations.

To honor the rich histories and contributions of both Bethune High School and Carver High School, we have established a dedicated Legacy Chair position to preserve their legacies.

Bethune alumni are strongly encouraged to apply for the Legacy Chair position or any other available officer role in the Destrehan Alumni Association. Similarly, Carver alumni are invited to apply for the Legacy Chair or any other officer position within the Hahnville Alumni Association.

Selection Considerations

Inaugural officers will be appointed based on the following criteria to ensure the leadership team is well-rounded and deeply connected to the parish:

• Alumni Status: Be an SCPPS alumnus for 5 or more years. 

• Diversity: Represent diverse professional backgrounds and class decades.

• Community Ties: Demonstrate strong ties to the local St. Charles Parish community.

Officer Positions and Responsibilities

The following officer positions are open for application for both the Destrehan High School Alumni Association and the Hahnville High School Alumni Association:

• President

  • Core Responsibility: Provides overall vision, leadership, and external representation.

• Vice-President

  • Core Responsibility: Supports the President and manages key strategic projects.

  • Serves as the chapter delegate for the District Alumni Committee.

• Secretary

  • Core Responsibility: Manages communication, records, and meeting minutes.

• Treasurer

  • Core Responsibility: Oversees financial management and budgeting.

• Legacy Chair

  • Core Responsibility: Responsible for honoring the historical contributions of Bethune High School or Carver High School.

  • Serves on the District Alumni Committee.
