Mission Statement
The Mission of the Transportation Department is to improve the quality of school transportation, communication between schools, community and bus drivers, and to produce a high level of safety for all students.
We employ 145 bus operators, 35 monitors, East Bank and West Bank dispatchers, and clerical staff to ensure our students travel safely to and from school.
In addition, our Service Department maintains and repairs our District-owned fleet of 153 buses. This department is staffed with mechanics, mechanic helpers, preventive maintenance staff, as well as supervisors to oversee the operation.
Our dedicated staff of 180 drivers and monitors goes through extensive training on federal and state laws, student behavior management, transporting students with special needs, and safety regulations before transporting students. We want to provide the safest ride for our students and you can help by reviewing the bus rules and safety tips before your child boards the bus. Please check the “Bus Rules and Safety Tips” page of the website to find helpful tips for a successful and safe ride.
