Event Safety Guidelines

Event Safety Guidelines

You and I…We are St. Charles Parish Public Schools is not merely a tagline; it is a guiding principle. The St. Charles Parish School Board values stakeholder feedback and uses it to drive continuous improvement within our schools.

Based upon the results of a stakeholder survey and further collaboration with various stakeholder groups, the following enhancements to safety protocols for events will be implemented beginning Thursday, October 12, 2023.

  • Any child not currently attending high school must be accompanied by an adult for admittance to any event hosted by a school, the school system, or the Lafon Arts Center. This applies to all students in Pre-kindergarten through 8th Grade and children not yet enrolled in school.
  • Any high school student must present their school ID if using a student ticket for entry to any event hosted by a school, the school system, or the Lafon Arts Center.
  • Metal detectors and/or handheld security wands may be utilized at any event hosted by a school, the school system, or the Lafon Arts Center.
  • A stricter bag protocol will now apply to all events hosted by a school, the school system, or the Lafon Arts Center including events such as Grandparents’ Day, concerts, athletic competitions, etc. Allowed bags include bags smaller than 4 x 6½ inches and clear bags between 4 x 6½ inches and 12 x 12 inches. Any bag larger than 12 x 12 inches is not allowed. (Exceptions may be allowed for diaper and/or medical bags.) All bags are subject to search.

St. Charles Parish Public Schools is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our students, employees, and stakeholders at large. We appreciate your support as we continue working together to provide all with an enjoyable event experience.
