I. Safe Schools

  1. Created Safe Schools Task Force consisting of key stakeholders: District administration, school administration, and first responders 1999 (meet every two years)
  2. Created comprehensive Crisis Management & Emergency Response Plans 1999 (revised annually)
  3. Annually conduct school safety audits at schools/centers on a rotating basis
  4. Safe Schools teams at each school
  5. Hired Coordinator of Safety, Security, & Emergency Preparedness 2010
  6. Implemented Safe Schools online training for all employees, which includes: Jason Flatt suicide training, ethics training, child abuse and neglect, fire extinguisher safety, slips, trips, and falls, and sexual misconduct professional development
  7. Active shooter drills were established in 2006

 II. Implemented School Dude in 2005

  1. District-wide comprehensive data management system utilized to submit, track, update, record costs, and time worked for all work orders
  2. Analysis of system data aids the District in planning for future projects, worker/task allocation, and budgeting
  3. Modules include: Maintenance Direct, Preventive Maintenance (PM) Direct, Utility Direct, IT Direct, and Inventory Direct
  4. Approximately 118,500 work orders have been processed since implementation 2005 to the present

III. 2015 Bond Issue

  1. Safety/Security Enhancements
  2. Interior and external lighting
  3. Perimeter fencing
  4. Electronic visitor management system
  5. Video & surveillance system
  6. Electronic access

IV. Energy Management System Implemented in 1996 

  1. Climate control via Siemens Automation System throughout the District
  2. Allows the District to remotely control HVAC systems at all sites
  3. Results in lower energy consumption and lower bills, thus saving taxpayer dollars
  4. Chiller maintenance/PM
  5. Chiller replacement cycle as part of Long Range Major Maintenance/Capital Improvements
  6. District-wide re-lamping cycle/schedule (last performed in 2006)
  7. Lighting fixture replacement 2014-16

 V. District Green Initiative

  1. All LED wall packs at both high school stadiums, NES, ESE, NSE, EJLAC, ACM, and Satellite Center. As they go out in the District, they are replaced with LED wall packs
  2. All spot lights that go out are replaced with LED lights (LWE, RKS done)
  3. LED parking lot lights – Central Office, ESE, NSE, and Maintenance Department
  4. Solar parking lights at AES
  5. LED canopy lights – SRE, ACM, and Maintenance Shop are done. As they go out in the District, they are replaced with new LED canopy lights
  6. Emergency lights – SRE is done. As they go out in the District, they are replaced with LED emergency lights
  7. Exit sign lights - as they go out in the District, they are replaced with LED exit lights
  8. Interior lights – entire CELC campus was changed to LED lights
  9. Battery powered weed eaters and blowers at AES, ACM, SRE, MPE, and HHM
  10. Emergency LED rechargeable portable lights used at schools when they are experiencing a power outage
  11. All school zone lights are solar powered
  12. Both high school gym lights are LED. RKS gym will be done in 2018-19
  13. ESE covered play area replaced with LED lights

 VI. Hurricane Disaster Preparedness & Recovery Plan

  1. Comprehensive action plan developed in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina
  2. Plans are revised yearly and after each significant weather event
  3. Plans for all District departments/schools

VII. Integrated Pest Management Plan (IPM)

  1. Developed plan for District 1995
  2. Certified applicators within the District:
    a. John P. Rome Jr.
    b. David Hanemann Jr.
    c. David Lamartiniere
    d. Terry Battiste
    e. Garrett Candies
    f. Joey Boudreaux
    g. Jesse Mullins
  3. Annual IPM training workshop for all District custodians
    a. Attendance at training allows custodians to apply pesticide under the supervision of a certified applicator
