About Our District
About St. Charles Parish Public Schools
St. Charles Parish Public Schools, nestled along the banks of the Mississippi River in southeast Louisiana, has been at the forefront of education and a leader among public schools in Louisiana since the mid 1970’s. Led by Superintendent Dr. Ken Oertling and eight board members, the school system is home to more than 9,100 students and 1,800 employees. Fifteen schools and five centers serve the community of St. Charles Parish with classes ranging from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and head start. This close knit community takes pride in its Triple “A” school system focused on achieving excellence in academics, athletics, and the arts. Our students and staff have been honored with numerous awards on the local, state, and national levels, and the district is ranked among the top in the state. We are committed to “Learning for Life.”
