Just the Facts: A Recap of the March School Board Meeting

The St. Charles Parish School Board held its monthly meeting on March 26, 2025, at the Professional Learning Center in Luling. Agenda items included resolutions/proclamations, student and employee recognition, personnel, bid authorization requests, request for/approval of proposals, renewal of property insurance, revisions to policy, and purchase of school buses.

YALL Fest Inspires Young Musicians Through Performance and Professional Feedback

The Dr. Rodney R. Lafon Performing Arts Center was filled with the sounds of student musicians as St. Charles Parish Public Schools hosted Young Artists Live at the Lafon Center, also known as YALL Fest. This exciting event provided school bands and choirs with a pre-festival, workshop-style performance, allowing them to refine their skills and grow as artists.

District Teachers of the Year Announced at Annual Banquet

St. Charles Parish Public Schools proudly announced its 2024-2025 Teachers of the Year at the annual Teachers of the Year Banquet on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the Jerusalem Shriners Center in Ormond. Sponsored by Shell Norco, this year’s event embraced the theme "Elegance & Excellence," transporting attendees to a glamorous Roaring 20s-inspired celebration.

Congratulations to Diana Mascarella of Luling Elementary School, Kathryn Wilken of Albert Cammon Middle School, and Kristie Gough of Hahnville High School, who were named the overall SCPPS elementary, middle, and high school Teachers of the Year!

STEAM Students Present Hurricane Relief Projects to Parish Leaders

Eighth-grade Advanced STEAM students at Harry Hurst Middle School recently had the opportunity to showcase their disaster relief plans to St. Charles Parish President Matt Jewell and Emergency Preparedness Director Jason Tastet. This project, which focused on designing a hurricane relief center, provided students with a hands-on learning experience centered around problem-solving, teamwork, and real-world application.
